2014 marks the 6th year of the Mid-Atlantic Power Festival (MAPFEST). Started in 2009 by Mike Payne and Chip Morris, MAPFEST offers a week filled with family-friendly fun. MAPFEST provides six nights of various motorsports events in the grandstand area, as well as a carnival. Admission to the carnival grounds is free and unlimited ride bracelets are available for purchase.
For the motorsports and horsepower enthusiast we offer a number of events throughout the week. And this year we’re offering an additional night of Truck & Tractor Pulling! We’ll kick off on the Saturday, June 7th, with ATV Sand Drags. Then, on Tuesday we’ll kick off the main week of MAPFEST with Motocross. The week continues to heat up with Monster Trucks (Wednesday), Truck & Tractor Pulling (Thursday & Friday), and a Demolition Derby (Saturday). Oh, and did we forget to mention, we’ll also offer an Autocross Derby on Saturday, June 14th. We started the Autocross Derby three years ago and it’s something you’re unlikely to see anywhere else. We run a derby on the Motocross Track—Ask anyone that’s seen the Autocross Derby in the last couple of years and they’ll tell you “THIS IS SOMETHING YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS!”
In addition to the carnival and grandstand events, MAPFEST aims to highlight breast cancer awareness throughout the week. Mike’s wife, Amy, lost her battle to breast cancer in 2007. You’ll see large, pink ribbons at various points on the MAPFEST grounds. The Greene County Relay for Life is present and offers t-shirts and other items for sale throughout the week. Proceeds gained through these sales and donations go to the Greene County Relay for Life. We hope that this effort highlights the importance of breast cancer screenings and continued efforts to find a cure.
We hope to see you at MAPFEST this year. Come on down to Ruckersville and join us for great food and entertainment! Check out our main page for event pricing information and additional detail. See you in June!
